PlantLab, a privately owned Dutch company that specializes in controlled environment agriculture, published a gorgeous 174-page volume to commemorate the opening of its new research facility in ’s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands, in late September. According to PlantLab, Warehouse — Laboratory “documents the revolutionary rebuilding of a warehouse, with the greatest respect for its rich heritage.”
The 50-year-old, 66,000-square-foot warehouse, known locally as “The Gruyter Factory”, was transformed into a state-of-the-art research facility in less than 8 months.
The characteristic pinkish hue of Illumitex’s Quantum LED grow lights figures prominently in a number of photographer Henk Wildschut’s stunning images. PlantLab uses Quantum plant growth LEDs in its Plant Production Units.
PlantLab’s PPUs are based on revolutionary technology and proprietary algorithms and are used to optimize the production of various crops. PlantLab’s patented technology is applicable in many fields, including breeding, pharmaceutics, cosmetics, flavourings and fragrances, specialty foods, flowers, potted plants, vegetables and fruits. By utilizing PPUs’ proprietary mathematical models, air control advances, maximum water control solutions, and Illumitex’s state-of-the-art LED systems, PlantLab removes the typical variables that hinder crop growth and delivery.
In addition to the dazzling, large-format photographs, the PlantLab book also cleverly includes a pocket that contains a large, fold-out map featuring a detailed look at the layout of the facility.
