“Best of both worlds” melon

US: Game changing FIJI offers reduced labour for producers

HM.CLAUSE, a company dealing in melon seed sales, has announced increased availability of FIJI.

FIJI is a “best of both worlds” melon from HM.CLAUSE’s HARRIS MORAN commercial brand that provides labour savings for growers while still delivering a mouth-watering eating experience for consumers. FIJI’s field holding capability combined with its concentrated fruit set & early sugar development provides harvest flexibility for producers while also reducing harvest costs. The long shelf life genetics of FIJI also facilitate relaxed cold chain requirements for shippers and reduce shrink for retailers. Even with the breadth of supply chain benefits achieved by this melon, it still is able to deliver delicious flavour and eating quality that will keep consumers coming back for more.

“HM.CLAUSE strives to develop genetics that will not only improve the business of our customers, but also delight consumers,” said Melon Product Manager, Yoav Mendel. “We believe FIJI will provide our growers with tangible savings during harvest and the improved shelf life will allow them to supply previously untapped markets. Consumer demand for improved fruit quality will also be satisfied with FIJI’s robust and delicious flavour. This ground-breaking melon will serve as the new model for consistency and reliability for years to come.”

FIJI is currently being harvested in the San Joaquin Valley through September and will move to Arizona and Southern California for October and November harvests.
