List Your Harvest, Inc. is excited to announce the launch of its website, listyourharvest.com, which is providing an invaluable tool for local farmers and producers to actively sell their products to local consumers. It is an online marketplace where anyone can post the products they are selling exactly when they are available.
Listyourharvest.com is dedicated to making local food and products more accessible to consumers nationwide. It is simple to post products or browse to see what is available in an area.
The organic and local movements have become familiar to every household in the United States, but this does not mean that everyone participates in either of these movements. For many, this is simply because they are bound by their schedules from visiting one of the local farmers’ markets or they are simply not aware of what is available near them. “The organic food market has increased every year since 2002 even through the economic down turn,” according to the Organic Trade Association (Catherine Greene, Growth Patterns in the U.S. Organic Industry, October 2013). In 2002, the organic market was about $10 billion, and in 2014 it is projected to be almost $40 billion in sales. Many local food producers have found markets for their products in selling them wholesale, but have found this to be problematic because they are required to sell their products at such a reduced price. Listyourharvest.com has set out to help give the competitive edge back to the local producers by giving them a low cost means to market their products online to their own communities. Small businesses and farmers throughout the United States struggle on a daily basis to find an avenue to market directly to their communities, outside of the local farmers’ market. List Your Harvest, Inc. is a small company that is dedicated to giving local individuals and farmers the best opportunity to succeed by integrating the local farmers’ market with the 21st Century through the website.
The website allows each individual user to control their own posts and advertisements, enabling them to keep the product information up to date for customers to browse. Most organizations which are providing fresh products to local consumers have no way to let anyone outside of their circle know when their products are ready or where they are located. Even if they have a website, it usually does not provide a current list of what is available. Giving each individual member control of their own advertisement and the ability to update it very simply allows even the most technologically inept members to stay competitive in their local market. With minimal effort, farmers and producers will be able to reach a much larger customer base.
How often do you prefer farm fresh products, but do not have the time to drive around the country trying to find what is available? This is true today for most people. Consumers realize that given the right information online, they can conveniently take advantage of what is being offered locally.
