Some greenhouses still have supplementary lighting with plastic housing, which means an increased fire risk. Insurance companies recommend replacing plastic fittings with metal ones. If this is not an option, proper control of the lighting systems is required.
Attention to maintenance
Periodic maintenance of your supplementary lighting in all cases limits the fire risk and ensures that the light output is maintained. What kind of maintenance is required can only be established after control measurement. It is important that this measurement is carried out according to established guidelines. The basis for control measurement can be checked in the brochure "Inspection and maintenance of supplementary lighting”. The limits for plastic fittings are listed on your policy. Cleaning reflectors
For optimal light output, it is strongly recommended to clean your lamps and reflectors once a year. This can be done manually or with the aid of a mobile carousel.
