After a thorough development process, Van der Windt Packaging introduced Hortilock. This holder, fastened to a bundle of potted plants covers, simplifies the automated process of sleeving. The system offers a considerable saving of both material and time. The plastic Hortilock is completely recyclable. During the FloraHolland Trade Fair, Van der Windt will officially present this innovation.
The Hortilock was developed in close cooperation with a number of partners: Terra International, Naber Plastics, Kalanchoë Rosalina, Solis Plant and KP Holland.
Van der Windt started an improvement project to come to an alternative sleeving method, resulting in the Hortilock. Extensive field tests have shown that usability and ease of use are excellent.
Berry Mauritz expects much interest from plant growers for the patented system. "The profit is biggest for companies with a single type of cultivation. You load the buffer station at the beginning of the day and you have no further worries. However, the Hortilock can be used with all types of pot covers.”
