Switzerland doubles production of cherry tomatoes in 5 years

The production of cherry tomatoes in Switzerland has doubled over the past five years, to more than 7,700 tons, according to data from the Swiss association for fruit and vegetables. This increase causes some pressure on the commercial market because there is an oversupply. In recent years production has moved to other areas, causing the Valais and Ticino zones to lose influence.

The production of other tomato crops, such as the Corazón de Buey and the cocktail tomato, is also increasing.
