Optimizing post-harvest management in Ethiopian horticulture

Together with partners FloraHolland, FloraLife and DLV Plant, Green Farming is organizing the technical seminar “Optimizing post-harvest management in Ethiopian horticulture” on Tuesday September 17th from 10:00 to 11:30 hrs. at Jupiter International Hotel – Cazanchise location, Addis Ababa.

 During the past year Green Farming partners FloraHolland, FloraLife and DLV Plant have developed a protocol for the post-harvest handling of roses in together with 4 Ethiopian partners. The protocol is applicable for the full East African region.

The three main steps of the protocol include detailed information on:

  • Initial flower quality; the initial conditions of the flowers at the moment they are harvested.
  • Water quality, hygiene standards and post-harvest treatment.
  • Post-harvest quality management, including post-harvest handling and cold chain management.


During the upcoming seminar the project outcomes and the protocol brochure will officially be presented to the sector.
