US (WA): McConkey refocuses on intermountain region, adds staff

In a key strategic expansion, McConkey, WA based producer and distributor of horticultural goods, has announced plans for increased focus on the intermountain states of Idaho, Utah, Montana, and portions of Washington and Colorado. The effort begins with the addition of Derek Upham as account manager servicing the territory.

“This very important region and customer group will be critical to our continued growth as we expand our McConkey product lines,” says Dave Edenfield, McConkey Business Development Manager. “Derek comes to McConkey with over 30 years of horticulture experience working with customers in the intermountain region.”

Derek’s diverse horticulture background most recently includes plant and hard good sales at Grimes Horticulture and seed and vegetative product sales at Syngenta Horticultural Services. His career also includes sales and management positions with Eason’s Horticultural Resources, Vaughan’s Seed Company, ICI Americas and others.

He holds a master’s in agricultural science and a bachelor’s in ornamental horticulture from California Polytechnic State University.

“Derek’s proven record of exceeding sales goals will be a valuable asset to McConkey’s growth,” says Dave. “We look forward to working together to expand McConkey’s presence in this key area.”
