Green Farming organizes Trade Mission to Ethiopia and Kenya

Green Farming will be organizing a Horticulture Trade Mission to Ethiopia and Kenya for Dutch horticulture suppliers and other related parties active in the sector. The program is scheduled for Monday September 16th to Saturday September 21st 2013.

The aim of the mission is to expose the Dutch suppliers to current cultivation conditions in Ethiopia and Kenya, to have them understand the development needs in the sectors and to stimulate knowledge exchange, networking and exploration of ways of co-operation between the Dutch and local partners in the sector.

Programme

The mission takes place from Monday September 16th to Saturday September 21st of which the first half will be held in Ethiopia and the second half will take place in Kenya. In Ethiopia the program will contain visits to farms and logistic services at the airport, combined with a network event and technical seminar on best practices in post-harvest management. During the seminar the Post-harvest Protocol will officially be presented to the sector.

In Kenya farms will be visited in the region of Naivasha and around Nairobi. Furthermore we plan to visit the Naivasha Horticultural Fair where matchmaking will be organised at the exhibition booth that Green Farming is sharing with the Dutch Embassy. In Naivasha a seminar is scheduled in which the results of a demonstration project on efficient water management will be presented. The event is linked to a network reception of the Dutch Embassy.

Mission participants that wish to have a booth at the Naivasha Horticultural Fair are free to decide which parts of the mission program they wish to take part in during the exhibition days.

Participation

Participation is open to Dutch parties or parties linked to Dutch organisations or companies that are involved in the horticulture sector. Costs for participation are 250 Euro for Green Farming members and 500 Euro for non-members. Travel and accommodation costs are for the participant’s own expenses.
