Report: Exploring the possibilities of a 3D haze measurement

Diffuse greenhouse cover material increases production of a variety of crops, as is proven earlier by Wageningen UR Greenhouse Horticulture. Untill now, diffuse greenhouse covermaterials are characterised by the so-called haze-value, which does not give any information about the scatter pattern of the transmitted light.

Within the program ‘Kas als Energiebron’ a new methodology is developed to characterise the forward scatter through diffuse greenhouse cover material. Result of this method is a value for F-scatter (forward scatter). The F-scatter provides more information about possibly higher crop production at equal hemispherical transmittance. Further research has to prove the effect is of a wider scatter pattern (and thus a higher F-scatter) on crop production.
