greenhouse uses residual warmth & Co2 from sugar factory

Turkey: First Ultra Clima greenhouse nearing completion

The greenhouse next to the Konya Sugar Factory in Konya, Turkey, is almost finished. If you have been reading our news items you will know that a conscious decision was made in favour of the Ultra Clima concept adjacent to a sugar factory in Çumra, an industrial city to the north of Antalya. The sugar factory produces a huge surplus of hot water and CO₂, which the management board of Konya felt a shame to waste.

After Konya found the solution they were looking for in the KUBO Ultra Clima® concept (the greenhouse is heated using residual heat from the sugar factory), a team of local contractors and Dutch specialists got to work on the construction of a 3.8-hectare greenhouse in early July 2012. The entire project is being supervised by KUBO and will be delivered turnkey, with the exception of the planting materials (potting soil and plants).

Konya can look forward to ending the year on a high note and ring in the new even better with their brand-new sustainable greenhouse: the very first Ultra Clima® greenhouse in Turkey.
