Chairman of the cooperation, José Maria Andújar, pitched the tomato as “a quality product, sustainable and able to reach far-away markets.” His introduction was followed by a speech by Vilmorin director Fabien Duffaut, who said: “The 'Rebelión' can be shipped from Almeria to Russia and will still be in top shape when it arrives.” Duffaut also highlighted the health aspects, saying that the tomato stands a good chance of being embraced by a wide audience.

Spain: CASI and Vilmorin present the 'Rebelión' tomato
Spanish tomato cooperation CASI, in collaboration with French breeder Vilmorin, recently introduced their new tomato variety, the 'Rebelión'. The variety, developed by the two companies and cultivated by CASI is marketed as a sturdy product with a long shelf life.
