Wyoming odd-even water restrictions won't affect greenhouses

The city of Wyoming is implementing odd-even outdoor water restrictions from May 1 to June 15 due to new water main construction. These rules apply to most residents and businesses using the municipal system, raising concerns among urban agriculture groups.

H.O.P.E Gardens, which manages community gardens and a newly launched greenhouse, relies heavily on daily irrigation for over 10,000 plants. Greenhouse and food production operations initially worried that the restrictions would disrupt plant growth and watering schedules.

The city clarified that food-growing activities requiring regular watering, including greenhouses, are exempt from the restrictions. While relieved, H.O.P.E Gardens continues to emphasize efficient water use practices such as timed irrigation and rainwater catchment.
