Greenhouse Produce Alliance of Canada meets for first time

During the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada (FVGC) Annual General Meeting, greenhouse vegetable growers met for the first time as the Greenhouse Produce Alliance. The Greenhouse Produce Alliance of Canada (GPAC) aims to be the newly established national voice of greenhouse fruit and vegetable growers across the country.

Representing farms that produce fresh, high-quality food year-round, GPAC brings together a sector that plays a vital role in Canada's food system, supports thousands of jobs, and contributes significantly to rural and regional economies. The organization builds on the foundation created by the Greenhouse Vegetable Working Group at the Fruit and Vegetable Growers of Canada, giving growers a strong national platform and a direct role in federal decision-making.

GPAC's central purpose is to elevate the profile of greenhouse agriculture and ensure the sector's priorities shape national policy, public understanding, and investment decisions. The organization aims to build national recognition of the greenhouse sector's contributions to food security, economic growth, and climate-smart agriculture. It seeks to strengthen relationships with policymakers and partners, expand its audience, and use public relations strategically to influence the national narrative. With a new name and branding under development, GPAC is preparing a coordinated communications strategy to introduce the organization, clarify its role, and position greenhouse agriculture as essential to Canada's future.
