BASF's Vegetable Seeds business has successfully completed the acquisition of Noble
Seeds Private Limited, announced last December. Noble Seeds is now officially a fully owned subsidiary of Nunhems India Private Limited and, as such, part of BASF | Nunhems. Noble Seeds will continue to operate as an independent business.
"This acquisition reinforces the companies' long-term growth ambitions in the dynamic Indian vegetable seed market. Noble Seeds brings strong genetics, particularly in cauliflower and radish, and complements BASF | Nunhems' existing strengths in chili, watermelon, cucurbits and tomato, enabling a more complete offer for Indian growers," according to the press release.

A stronger local presence
"India is one of the largest and most dynamic vegetable seed markets in the world," according to Maximilian Becker, senior vice president of BASF | Nunhems. "With Noble Seeds now part of the BASF | Nunhems family, we are strengthening our presence across India and expanding our crop portfolio with locally relevant varieties. We warmly welcome our new colleagues and look forward to building on Noble Seeds' strong relationships with farmers and deep local expertise."
Noble Seeds has built a strong presence in North India and maintains close relationships with growers and distributors. Combined with BASF | Nunhems' well-established position in the south of the country, this acquisition provides pan-India coverage and better tailored support to farmers in very diverse regions.
