US (MI): Non-profit seeks donations after storm damages greenhouse

A Michiana nonprofit is asking for community help after weekend storms tore the roof off its greenhouse classroom at its Summit campus in Union, destroying crops and causing thousands of dollars in losses.

Five Star Life said the damage has rendered the building unsafe for students. The greenhouse serves as a hands-on learning space for agriculture and science education, as well as teamwork and leadership training through the organization's Innovative Learning program.

With the structure unsafe, students in the Innovative Learning program are being relocated to other areas of campus while repairs are planned. The damage comes as spring programs are set to begin.

Five Star Life is asking the community to donate or share information to help rebuild and reopen the space. Donations can be made at the link here.
