US (CT): Growers request assistance after greenhouse wrecked by storms

In recent weeks, far-below-freezing temperatures and a severe wind storm caused significant damage across the region. Renee, owner of Earth's Palate Farm LLC, lost an entire greenhouse filled with lettuce as well as her full hydroponic growing system. Earth's Palate Farm supplies local restaurants, schools, and the area food hub, playing an important role in the local food system.

Due to high crop insurance costs and the farm's small size, Renee does not qualify for agricultural relief aid. In addition to being a dedicated farmer, she is also a devoted mother of two and a valued member of the community.

A fundraiser has been organized to help Renee rebuild and get Earth's Palate Farm back on its feet. A link to the fundraiser is here for those who wish to donate.
