LNZ Group produces berry planting material in its own biolaboratory

LNZ Group is expanding its vegetable and berry production in the Cherkasy region of Ukraine, with around 300 ha allocated to these crops. The produce is processed at the company's own freezing facility under the Tevitta brand.

The development was outlined by Oleksandr Khmeliuk, Head of the Agricultural Department at LNZ Group, during an agribusiness meeting focused on profitability and operational efficiency.

According to Khmeliuk, the company decided to establish its own biolaboratory after encountering virus-infected strawberry seedlings on the market. LNZ Group now produces its own planting material through in vitro vegetative propagation and no longer purchases plants from external nurseries.

In 2024, the company produced approximately 1.5 million plants. LNZ Group notes that the fresh berry market, particularly strawberries, can be highly profitable, with prices reaching UAH 400/kg (€8.0) in March. However, due to the seasonal nature of the market, surplus volumes are directed to processing.

The company operates two sales channels for fruit and vegetable products: the fresh market and freezing. Its freezing plant operates for 10 months per year. Only LNZ Group's own produce is exported.

Vegetables and berries are grown using drip irrigation, with lines installed either under mulch film or fully underground, improving water-use efficiency.
