DUCI F1: new mini plum tomato developed

"The cold does not scare it... and not even the heat"

"You never stop learning", this famous maxim fits perfectly with the experience that the Fenix development team has had with the DUCI F1 indeterminate mini plum (datterino) tomato variety, widely spread and appreciated in various areas and since last month in the harvesting phase in the south-eastern Sicily area that goes from Gela to Syracuse.

For those who know it, this mini plum is renowned for its ability to perform very well during the autumn-winter cycles, offering high yield and good ability to tolerate the cracking of the fruits, withstanding the sudden temperature changes (hot-cold) that put a strain on crops.

Last spring-summer season, however, Duci demonstrated great fruit set skills even under high temperatures, guaranteeing excellent yield and high quality while preserving shape, color and sweet flavor.

These surprising results will make it the favorite of the type in many companies that already grow it in the autumn-winter cycles and which, from next spring, will also choose it for the summer ones.

Excellent performances were also recorded in other areas suited to the cultivation of table tomatoes under greenhouses, such as the Fondi-Sperlonga area, in central Italy, whose main cultivation cycles are more similar in conditions to the short spring-summer cycles of the south.

Duci F1 is therefore confirmed as a product with a strong ability to adapt to different cultivation conditions in terms of structures, methodologies and cycles, demonstrating that it still has a lot of potential to express in addition to other characteristics, including a good level of tolerance to ToBRFV, and a wide package of genetic resistances, including IR: TYLCV, Ma, Mi, Mj (root nematodes).
