UK: Firefighters tackle vehicle-filled greenhouse fire

More than 50 firefighters have tackled a fire in a greenhouse filled with about 100 vehicles overnight. Crews from nine stations, along with specialist vehicles from a further four stations, were sent to Romsey Road in Ower on Thursday at about 22:30 GMT.

About 28 vehicles, including vans, cars and a small boat, were damaged during the fire, police said. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said officers and firefighters remain at the scene. An investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire is being carried out.

Due to the large number of crews from multiple stations at the scene, the fire service said fire engines were put on standby at stations in the surrounding area overnight to ensure enough cover was provided.

No one was hurt in the blaze.
