Last season, Metazet applied Second Skin to its existing growing gutters at tomato grower Piet de Bruijn's facility in De Lier, The Netherlands. For De Bruijn, this was the first full crop cycle with the new protective layer, and the results fully met expectations. During the crop changeover, the added value of the coating became clear once again—not only as extra protection for the gutters, but also in how much easier they are to clean during the switch.

Second Skin is an applied polymer top layer that gives the gutters a smooth, hygienic surface to which dirt adheres far less easily. The coating is also resistant to the aggressive disinfectants commonly used today, ensuring the protective effect remains completely intact. As a result, the gutters stay cleaner throughout the season and can be cleaned more quickly and visibly during the crop changeover. This not only ensures a fresh start for the new crop, but also supports a more efficient preparation of the greenhouse.
According to Piet de Bruijn, the difference is clearly noticeable: "Second Skin makes cleaning so much easier. We saved around 20% in labor, and the gutters are cleaner than ever. It's almost like having new gutters!"
