India: Professor publishes new book on optimizing greenhouse climate control systems

A new book aiming to aid growers entitled Greenhouse Engineering: Software-driven Design and Modelling for Optimal Microclimate Control has recently been released.

The comprehensive software-based approach in this book provides an in-depth exploration of the latest innovations in greenhouse engineering, thus transforming the existing Controlled Environment Agriculture (CEA) to a futuristic Greenhouse Smart Agriculture (GSA), aiding the grower to optimize crop yields, reduce environmental impact, and enhance farm profitability through software decision support systems.

The book includes more than 100 numerical problems with optimization of crop resources heating/cooling systems for maximizing the profits using a Python based solution approach. Besides, several case studies, practical examples and project ideas are presented.

This book is aimed at university and greenhouse industry growers/researchers, agricultural engineers, and graduate students in fields such as agriculture, agricultural and biosystems engineering, horticulture, environmental science, and renewable energy, as well as professional agricultural policymakers.

The book is written by Dr V P Sethi, the Head of Punjab Agricultural University's Dept. of Mechanical Engineering.

The book is available to preview and to purchase at the link here.
