Kwekerij Bazuin bids farewell to a true veteran: Daan van Baalen retires after 67 years

After an incredible 67 years of service, Kwekerij Bazuin has said goodbye to long-time colleague Daan van Baalen, who is now retiring. Daan has been part of the greenhouse company since the age of 14, working there until his 81st birthday—a truly remarkable milestone.

"He's witnessed the entire evolution of horticulture," said Bas Bazuin. "From working under flat glass in the early days to today's advanced greenhouse technology. His career is one of a kind, and his dedication has been extraordinary. We're deeply grateful for everything he's contributed."

To mark the occasion, Bart van Straten, deputy mayor and alderman, visited the nursery personally last Friday to present Daan with a bouquet of flowers.

At Kwekerij Bazuin, colleagues expressed their heartfelt thanks for Daan's hard work, loyalty, and team spirit, wishing him a well-deserved and wonderful retirement—a fitting tribute to a man who quite literally spent a lifetime helping things grow.
