"cleaning with FerSol, and planting a day later, that's possible"

Growers rely on powerful cleaning agent during crop rotation

Many tomato growers using lighting have recently cleared their greenhouses, cleaned them thoroughly, and replanted with young plants. This autumn, growers without lighting and those producing other greenhouse vegetables will follow the same rotation process. To support this work, an award-winning cleaning product has been available for several years. Ron Peters, a hygiene specialist at Future Growing, was one of the first to use it.

Before entering horticulture, FerSol® was already well established in other industries, including chemicals, dairy processing, and even in horticulture, people are already well acquainted with the oxidising product for other applications. For example, crates and cultivation trays are already cleaned with FerSol and the product is also used to deferrise groundwater or brine flows. Until recently, growers in greenhouse horticulture did not use the product for cleaning greenhouses, but that is now possible.

Ron explains that effective use depends on good contact and carefully following instructions. "As with any product, always rinse pumps and pipes after use, ensure staff wear protective clothing, and clean machines and equipment immediately after treatment. It's nothing new, just common sense."

Broadly applications
Growers can use the product not only during the major end-of-season crop change but also between two shorter cycles. Ron sees plenty of potential: "You can remova the crop from a greenhouse, spray down with FerSol, and be planting again the next day if needed. That's why I'm also targeting international growers who go through many crop changes."

One such grower is Polish company Mularski, which successfully integrated FerSol into its hygiene routine. "We choose prevention, and on Ron's advice we use products that really do the job while being ecologically responsible," said Marcin Mularski at the end of last year. One of those products is FerSol. Ron also acts as international dealer for the product.

Tailor-made cleaning and disinfection plans
Mularski is not the only grower who started using FerSol through Ron. Cucumber grower Gartenbau Flicker GmbH in Austria is another satisfied user. "In 2024 we struggled with high virus pressure," recalls grower Herman Haidvogl.

Part of the crop was lost. "We were advised to contact Ron Peters, which we did. He quickly came to visit us. We explained the problems, and he spent a full day walking through the greenhouses with us, discussing the situation and our procedures. Afterwards, he developed a cleaning and disinfection plan for us, using Hortiwash (a stabilized hydrogen peroxide) together with FerSol. We followed the plan step by step."

As a result, the 2025 season ran almost completely clean. "In late August we saw some virus appear, but we kept it under control. I'm very happy with the results of Ron's support, and I can only recommend him."

"FerSol has been a breakthrough for us"
Tomato grower Zeiler Gemüsevertrieb GmbH in Münchendorf, Austria, had already turned to Ron in 2021 because of major problems with ToBRFV. "At the time, the virus caused serious damage," recalls CEO Christiaan Zeiler. "Today, ToBRFV is no longer a major issue for us, because we now work with resistant varieties and with the products Ron recommended."

The company follows Ron's hygiene protocol strictly every year. "We have been able to steadily reduce the virus load. FerSol is a very useful tool, which we apply shortly before planting. FerSol as part of Ron Peters' cleaning and disinfection plan has been a breakthrough for us and can break down and defeat both robust and stubborn old viruses."
