Ademar:

"It's crucial to rely on solutions adapted to local challenges"

Founded in 2016, Ademar manufactures, imports, and distributes complete solutions for CEA operations across Latin America from its base in Central America, where it works with leading global manufacturers in the industry.

"Ademar was created to provide solutions for farmers in the region. We are direct importers and distributors, while also offering technical advice and recommendations. The word distributors doesn't anyway give really justice to what we do: we know the market's needs very well," says Laurent Duvergey.

The company's strength lies in its dual expertise. "On the one hand, we have practical field experience, updated and close to farmers. On the other, we constantly learn from our manufacturing partners, who are global leaders in this sector. Thanks to them, we gather knowledge about similar challenges in different parts of the world, which allows us to offer solutions adapted to different locations."

Ademar has therefore committed to a broad range of technologies. "We work with eight-layer plastics, with permanent anti-drip systems that provide optimal light transmission and diffusion. We also distribute all fastening systems for greenhouses, including cables and profiles to secure the plastic."

"Alongside that, we offer complete screen systems to improve temperature management inside and outside greenhouses, cultivation tables for hydroponics or ornamentals, weed-control solutions such as ground cover or compostable mulch, and we even manufacture complete greenhouse systems through our sister company Sagam®."

"We also design complete ventilation solutions together with leading manufacturers, with customized systems to control relative humidity and temperature."

Ademar's portfolio serves both the ornamental sector, flowers, plants, and foliage, and the fruit and vegetable industry, particularly hydroponic greenhouse production, while also supplying solutions for open-field farming. "We analyze, design, distribute, and install complete solutions. And it's important to remember this: a protected environment is not just a basic rain shelter. The goal is to create the best possible climate for plants, and in our region this can be achieved with three key elements: a high-quality plastic that delivers light, a screen system that maintains that quality while lowering temperatures, and a tailored ventilation system to complete climate control."

The concept of protected cropping, Duvergey insists, is rapidly becoming extremely relevant. "Several factors explain this. The first is the climate challenge; then comes the need for profitable, high-quality production. Agriculture, especially local agriculture, is still struggling with profitability, and in fact many farmers have never managed to achieve it."

"We must understand that farmers are not just producers, but essential actors for the future health of society. And there lies the great paradox: farmers do not see profitability, yet society demands higher quality production, while at the same time we must pay much more for what is fresh."

For Duvergey, the future of protected agriculture depends on integrating global knowledge with local adaptation, always keeping health as the ultimate goal. "That's why it's not just about selling plastics, screens, or fans. It's about designing protected environments that allow farmers to produce with quality, profitability, and responsibility. It's a complex path, but an indispensable one."
