Bangladesh growers get seeds to grow pesticide-free vegetables

Bashundhara Shuvosangho held a consultation meeting and distributed seeds in Kaharole upazila in Dinajpur, Bangladesh to encourage farmers to adopt pesticide-free vegetable cultivation.

The event took place near Kantaji Temple on Tuesday, organised by the Kaharole upazila unit of Shuvosangho. Speakers at the event emphasised the dangers of chemical fertilisers and pesticides, urging farmers to embrace environmentally friendly practices.
They also urged farmers to use organic fertilisers, mulching, pheromone traps, and yellow sticky traps, highlighting that these methods ensure safe vegetables and safeguard public health.

Speaking at the event, Mahfuz Islam said, "Pesticide-free vegetables are becoming increasingly rare, while vegetables with pesticides are causing health problems. This programme is a small step, and we plan to expand it to benefit more farmers in the future."

Farmers welcomed the vegetable seeds gifted by Bashundhara Shuvosangho with joy.
