A university in Turkey is starting education for smart greenhouse technologies

After Sultanhisar Vocational School's greenhouse department launched last year to great demand, the Council of Higher Education (YOK) recommended improvements to the department to improve the program even further. According to Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kilickan, director of Sultanhisar Vocational School, a new program has been created to increase interest in the department.

"The Greenhouse Department we opened last year was filled thanks to a lot of interest from students," Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kilickan said, indicating that the departmental shift was more than just a name change. "We didn't stop there, though. We started the 'Smart Greenhouse Technologies' initiative and incorporated technology with greenhouse farming on the Council of Higher Education's proposal. This is more than just a name change; the curriculum has undergone substantial modifications. As a result, we've started bolstering our lab's infrastructure and acquiring additional apparatus."

Prof. Dr. Kilickan stressed that by focusing on agricultural technology, the new program will significantly benefit agriculture in the region and the nation.
