In King City, Ontario, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held this Tuesday at the Haven Greens facility.. The facility produces a variety of lettuce cultivars grown under high-tech conditions, aiming to increase year-round local availability of these products. "This milestone is just the beginning. We look forward to continuing to grow, serve, and lead in the future of Canadian-grown produce", said founder and CEO Jay Willmot.

Belief in cultivation
As shown during the tour of the facility, Haven Greens is fully automated, needing only minimal human intervention. The operation targets the Canadian retail sector, particularly supplying lettuce products not frequently available in the region. Jay noted that while production has been underway since March 2025, the ribbon cutting provided an opportunity to align stakeholders around the project's development.
"This moment allowed us to pause, reflect, and formally acknowledge the growth of our team, our facility, and our shared vision for the future of sustainable agriculture", Jay said. "We're incredibly grateful to our dedicated team, stakeholders, and community members who have supported us along the way. Your belief in what we're cultivating—both literally and figuratively—makes all the difference."
