"This season has been very satisfying in terms of both varietal improvement and nursery management. The raspberry varieties managed by G-Berries worldwide are performing exceptionally well, exceeding expectations," says Matteo Molari, the Cesena-based company's managing partner.

"The propagation of our cultivars this season has been extraordinary. We have experienced growth in the Iberian Peninsula (Spain and Portugal) and Morocco. The market and management model have been validated, with over 80 hectares planted during this period. In Mexico, we are achieving excellent results with the Club. The quality of the fruit that reaches the market is ultimately what gives us the greatest satisfaction, as it serves as the ultimate gauge for evaluating a new variety. However, precisely for this reason, we cannot stop. In addition to summer deliveries scheduled through mid-August, we are looking ahead."

The first novelty is Alel101 EasyRose®, a variety developed by Lucchini Berries and marketed worldwide by G-Berries. This variety demonstrates optimal performance in 'primocane' production and is equally well-suited for winter cultivation. It is characterized by its robust growth and an upright posture. Its fruit is notably large and dry, with an exceptional flavor, boasting an excellent texture. Trial plantings of this variety are already underway in Spain, Portugal, Italy, and Egypt. Additionally, it will be planted in Morocco during the summer.

"During the season, we organize tours where interested companies can see this novelty up close with Alessandro and Elisa Lucchini. Our variety development manager, Alessandro Gualandi, oversees worldwide dissemination, strategy, and the supply chain," says Matteo Molari.
Another one of the company's flagship projects is the Gil Program®, an exclusive club focused on improving raspberry varieties. It is supported by eight companies in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Morocco.
"We are eager to see the first advanced selections in action. Currently, we have three selections in the field at our member companies' sites in Italy, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Germany, Poland, and Morocco. Our research center, Cerchia 2, in Cesena, also has selections on display. One of them is at a more advanced stage, and we were able to see it in action during the flower harvest this year, with results above expectations," Luca Molari continues.

"We will have the chance to see how the three advanced selections perform during the reflowering harvest, which starts around mid-August. We will follow their development and conduct the first commercial trials. The next annual Gil Program event is scheduled for early September and will bring together some of the most important companies in the industry to the Italian province of Cesena. We always enjoy this event," Molari concludes.
