This upcoming week at GreenTech Amsterdam, Hoogendoorn Growth Management will launch a brand-new addition to its Intelligent Algorithms software: Intelligent Irrigation. This new module is an all-in-one solution that automates and optimizes irrigation based on the crop's actual water uptake and the grower's crop steering strategy.
Intelligent Irrigation learns the crop's specific water consumption patterns and adjusts irrigation cycles accordingly. The algorithm uses real-time weather forecasts, climate data, and historical information to determine the optimal timing and volume of irrigation. This supports ideal substrate EC levels, healthy dryback for oxygenation, and more efficient water use.
What used to be a complex process involving multiple settings is now simplified into an intuitive module, with easy-to-adjust sliders for dryback and drain percentage. Switching between generative and vegetative strategies can now be done with just one click.
"With Intelligent Irrigation, we're helping growers move from manual fine-tuning to fully data-driven irrigation control," says Wierd Vonk, Team Lead Intelligent Algorithms at Hoogendoorn. "This marks an important step toward autonomous greenhouse management."
The new module will officially launch during GreenTech Amsterdam 2025 at Hoogendoorn's booth 01.421, where visitors can explore the innovation through live demos of the company's IIVO system and experience it in action via the Apple Vision Pro.
In addition, the algorithm will be presented during an exclusive Thought Leadership Session on Tuesday, June 10th, from 15:30 to 16:15, on the Vision Stage at GreenTech, where Hoogendoorn's colleagues will also dive deeper into our broader Intelligent Algorithms software.
