Funding spotlight:

£100k to trial innovation on your farm

Farmers, growers, and foresters in England now have the opportunity to access funding of up to £100,000 to support on-farm innovation projects.

As part of the Farming Innovation Programme, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and Innovate UK are jointly investing £2 million to support trials and demonstration projects aimed at building a more resilient, sustainable, and net-zero food system. This funding is intended to help test practical innovations that can have a real impact on-farm.

The funding is available for projects that:

-Request between £50,000 and £100,000
-Deliver clear benefits to the wider farming community in England
-Focus on areas such as productivity, environmental sustainability, resilience, and net-zero farming

LettUs Grow, a company specialising in advanced aeroponic technology, is among those supporting applicants. Their systems are currently used by commercial growers to improve yields and reduce water consumption, and the company is open to collaborating on trial projects as part of this initiative.

To assist those who are new to applying, Innovate UK offers support through the ADOPT Facilitator Support Grant. This scheme connects applicants with external experts who can provide guidance and help shape strong proposals.

Applications are now open, though availability is limited and deadlines are approaching.
