"Our varieties have performed excellently throughout the season, not only in terms of resistance, but also in fruit quality and yields," stated Juan Miguel Agüero (pictured above), Product Development Specialist at BASF|Nunhems. The company introduced four new tomato varieties and a new rootstock this season. With these additions, the company now offers more than 40 varieties in eight types.
The company introduced the Beires variety (NUN 05644) to expand its range for August transplants, which already included the Cabosur variety, for transplants in the second half of August, and Caboluna, for transplants in the first weeks of August, which are both resistant to the ToBRFV. Beires is an earlier variety (early August). Like its predecessors, it's recommended for both loose and branch harvesting and allows for both long and short cycles.
"Beires offers very high yields," Agüero stated. He also highlighted that it was resistant to ToBRFV and Fulvia. "It is ideal for organic farming," he stated.

BASF | Nunhems expanded its pear tomato range with the Ismarian variety (NUN 06229). Unlike its Azovian variety, its benchmark for export, Ismarian is for the domestic market. Ismarian is a highly productive variety that yields large, attractive, red colored tomatoes that have an excellent shelf life, like the Azovian variety.

In loose tomatoes, the new addition this season is Palmeo (NUN 05128), a large tomato (GGGGG) for the domestic and export markets, which is winning over farmers thanks to its productivity.

The seed company is completing its cherry tomato range with the Daivion, Siurion, and Avrion varieties. The Daivion round cherry tomato (pictured right) has a plant structure that permits reducing labor costs considerably. The Sirurion and Avrion are two high-flavored pear-cherry tomatoes (over 9º Brix), the latter of which is a bit larger and has a ribbed shape
Finally, BASF | Nunhems is introducing new products, including the NUN 06226, which combines resistance to the rugose and spoon viruses (TYLCV), in its Intense range this season.
Dreampower is the company's medium-vigour rootstock with resistance to ToBRFV, which provides the right balance for vigorous tomato varieties. This year, the company is launching Maaspower (NUN 00057) as a complement to those other tomatoes that do need extra vigor. This new rootstock is also suitable for poor, heavy, and saline soils and is resistant to the ToBrFV.
