The research was carried out in Chandragiri ward no. 1 in Kathmandu district from February to June 2023.
The research was conducted on the Impact of Tuta absoluta (Tomato Leaf Miner) on different varieties of Lycopersicum esculentum (Tomato). Tomato seedlings were transplanted of five different varieties. Those five varieties are the five treatments in the research. Five varieties are: (1) Purna (2) Syngenta (3) Samjhana (4) Srijana (5) Pusa Ruby. Each treatment had four replications on four different tunnels. At the end of the research following results were obtained. Samjhana variety performed best overall as it obtained the most height (185.375cm), most number of leaves (203.75cm), widest leaf (6.465 cm), most fruits (35.25), most harvestable fruits (22.25), lowest infected fruits (2.75), most yields of 2.72kg/plants and lowest infected leaves (5). While, Srijana performed the worst with the lowest number of flowers (10.5), lowest harvestable fruits (13.5), most infected fruits (4.5), most infected leaves numbering (8.25) and smallest fruits diameter (3.865cm) and second lowest yield of (2.63kg/plant). Pusa Ruby performed second to Samjhana with 2.7kg/plant yield and largest fruits (5.435cm) but it also had the lowest height (162.6cm), smallest leaf width (5.925) and the lowest amount of fruits (28.25). Syngenta followed Pusa Ruby with 2.67 kg/plant yield and it had the lowest number of leaves (162.6) and most flowers of (16.5). Purna had the lowest yield (2.55). The low yield of Purna is mainly due to it being new to the locality. From the data analysis, it was observed that there was a significant impact seen on plant height, number of leaf, width of leaf, number of flowers and number of harvestable fruits due to the attack of Leaf miner but there was no significant impact in number of infected leaves, number of infected fruits, diameter of fruits and total yield of crops due to Leaf miner.
However, only a slight impact was seen on a number of fruits and the attack of Leaf miner.
