Malaysia: LNG greenhouse cooling in new strawberry greenhouse

Bluelab, in collaboration with partner Excel Seeds, announces collaboration with the Malaysian government-backed think-tank MIGHT (Market-Driven Technological Partnership) and energy innovators Wasavé.

MIGHT and Wasavé have introduced an innovative approach to sustainable agriculture by harnessing the potential of liquefied natural gas (LNG) greenhouse cooling. This technology marks a significant leap forward in sustainable agriculture, offering a 20%-40% saving in total energy bills and a 22%-35% decrease in CO2 emissions.

Excel Seeds and Bluelab have provided the automation and measurement technology required to effectively grow strawberries in the LNG-cooled greenhouse.

On September 9, 2023, industry leaders, innovators, and agriculture enthusiasts gathered to witness the inauguration of this remarkable project in Malaysia. The strawberry farm includes an innovative approach to energy efficiency, sustainability, and smart farming practices.

Excel Seeds has played a pivotal role in this endeavor, incorporating a Bluelab MultiGrow system and Bluelab handheld measurement devices, including Pulse Meter and Combo Meter.

By collaborating closely with MIGHT, Wasavé, and Excel Seeds, Bluelab is taking a step toward sustainable agriculture in Malaysia. "The project not only showcases the potential of CGR COLDGROW TM technology and LNG applications in agriculture but also highlights the importance of innovation and partnership in addressing the challenges of food production and environmental sustainability. This partnership represents our commitment to pushing the boundaries of agricultural technology and sustainability", said Hwang Shuang Chuan, Regional Business Partner Manager for Asia and the Middle East at Bluelab

"We are excited to be part of this journey with MIGHT, Wasavé, and Excel Seeds. Together, we are working towards a future where innovative solutions can provide food security while minimizing environmental impact."

The new lowland strawberry farm is set to serve as a model for sustainable agriculture practices worldwide.
