Solar farm on greenhouse land Tinte 'exception to the rule'

Construction has started on a 13.3-hectare solar park on Konneweg in Tinte. The project should be operational by September 2023. The project is constructed on horticultural land, raising questions in the horticulture sector. Glastuinbouw Nederland was asked by members what position the industry organization takes on this solar park. After all, Glastuinbouw Nederland, like LTO Nederland, is against using agricultural land for solar panels.

The draft decision for this temporary solar farm was already published on 29 June 2022. In consultation with the region, Glastuinbouw Nederland submitted an outlook at the time, which included three comments.

The main reason for Glastuinbouw Nederland to nevertheless agree (subject to a number of conditions) to the realization of the solar park on glasshouse horticulture is that it concerns a plot that is 'incourant for horticulture' because of a high-voltage pylon in the middle of the plot and a pipeline line for oil and gas.

Double use of space
Glastuinbouw Nederland was and remained opposed to the realization of solar parks on sustainable horticulture plots. In the statement following this park, it states that it is committed to double use of space. In sustainable greenhouse horticulture areas, solar panels can be installed on business premises and basins.
