A unique aquaponic farm for growing microgreens is developing near Astrakhan

Five years ago, farmer Natalia Tolstova and her son started cultivating peas, radishes, and basil, and now they are experimenting with growing high-quality microgreens and lettuce. Unlike traditional methods, the plants are grown not in soil but in water, which allows for the production of environmentally friendly crops.

To grow plants using the aquaponic method on an area of about 3.5 hectares, special equipment was required. Currently, aquaponic cultivation is in the experimental stage. With approximately 14,000 lettuce plants successfully grown using this method comply with Russian and international eco-standards.

Farmers are in the process of obtaining a patent for their development. In the future, they plan to expand the range of crops and establish their own laboratory.
