After legal dispute:

Green light for new expansion on 6 ha in southern Sweden

A giant tomato greenhouse will now be built in Elleholm, southern Sweden. The ambitious new building plans to double the cultivation area to 60,000m2 met with opposition from local residents and a neighboring museum, among others. However, the highest environmental court has now given the green light for the new extension, Swedish media report.

The southern Swedish operation is the country's second-largest tomato farm and is run by Thomas and Carola Lilja. On the existing 5.5 hectares, they produce up to 2,700 tons of tomatoes annually between March and November for the Swedish domestic market. Among other things, the farm is the exclusive supplier of the Elanto variety.
