Westland gives three tonne grant to Westland water bank pilot

The location has already been chosen and funding is still being sought. Meanwhile, a letter of intent has been signed by involved parties for a pilot COASTAR water bank in Westland. It has also been announced that Westland will pay out three tonnes of subsidy.

The declaration of intent agreed to share the costs and also agreed on what will happen if it turns out that the pilot is not feasible.

Growers in the area around De Hooghe Beer in Kwintsheul are investigating in a project the extent to which infiltrating rainwater underground and working on closing the water balance within an area can be good alternatives.

The municipality of Westland, the province of South Holland, Coƶperatie Nature Water U.A, Stichting Kennis in je Kas, and the Hoogheemraadschap van Delfland have signed the declaration of intent, according to the Westland Municipal Executive in week 21.

More information about the project already appeared on the Kennis in je Kas website last year.
