Sylvie Malacrino, Urbasolar:

“Our photovoltaic greenhouses are an agronomically efficient tool”

Energy being a central issue in the agricultural sector today, Sylvie Malacrino expressed herself on the virtues of photovoltaic agricultural greenhouses. Head of the greenhouses and agricultural market at Urbasolar, she explained the company's expertise in the development, financing, and construction of photovoltaic greenhouses.

"Urbasolar is a major player in the photovoltaic sector and a leader in the installation of solar panels on parking lots and on the roofs of large buildings. We also have an in-house agricultural division focused on the construction of photovoltaic greenhouses. Unlike other professionals, we do not equip existing greenhouses but work on new projects. We take care of the construction of the entire greenhouse, from the structure to the installation of the panels, and then sell the electricity produced. We have chosen to build the greenhouses ourselves because we want them to be perfectly adapted to the producer's crops. The methods and the equipment vary according to the type of production (vegetables, horticulture, or fruit), so it is necessary to adapt the structures that we build. Above all, we seek to have an agronomically efficient production tool, an objective that is more difficult to achieve if we were to equip existing structures with our solar panels."
