Vitalnova TriBoost

UK: New microbial inoculant delivers tangible benefits in sustainable growing media mixes

A new ICL microbial inoculant, Vitalnova TriBoost, promotes a healthy microbiome in sustainable growing media mixes, helping boost plant vitality - optimizing plant quality while minimizing losses.

“The latest addition to our growing portfolio of tried and tested high-performance biostimulants, Vitalnova TriBoost is a welcome addition to integrated crop management plans for plants grown in peat-reduced and peat-free growing media,” says Sam Rivers, ICL Technical Manager for Controls.

Growing media incorporated, Vitalnova TriBoost consists of a robust population of beneficial microbes. It contains enzymes and three live cultures of Bacillus subtilis, Enterococcus faecium, and Lactobacillus plantarum – all freeze-dried to optimize viability.

“Selected for their role in healthy, balanced soils, this new microbial inoculant gives sustainable growing media a well-needed microbial boost,” explains Sam.

“In recent trials at a leading peat-free grower, Vitalnova TriBoost outperformed the competitor product and control, delivering several tangible benefits. Promoting significantly better rooting, it almost eliminated losses in several challenging-to-grow species. Meanwhile, TriBoost treated plants were ready for sale 2-3 weeks earlier.”

Robust communities of beneficial microbes are essential for optimizing soil and growing media productivity; promoting the rapid breakdown of plant residues, improving soil carbon and pH; and helping to provide plants with available nutrients throughout the season.

“Compared to peat mixes, new sustainable peat-free/peat-reduced growing media mixes – containing wood fiber, bark, and coir – contain fewer beneficial microbes due to how they are processed,” explains Sam. “Conveniently added to growing media mixes during manufacture, Vitalnova TriBoost greatly amplifies the microbial content of sustainable mixes delivering a raft of benefits.”
