Snijpunt - part of Harvest House - celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. Both management and employees are proud of this anniversary. The entire year 2023 will therefore be a celebration. This year, they look back at what they have achieved and, of course, look ahead with their plans for the future.
Twenty-five years ago, it all started with a student and a grower looking beyond the established supply chain. On the 1st of June 1998, Marco Romein and Karel Vromans created the foundation for the company it is today, a specialist in producing freshly prepared cut vegetables.
Their goal was to realize added value for bell pepper. The idea was to start delivering sliced peppers. This way, bell peppers not suited for retail can also be processed. At the same time, value is added to the raw material as well. No sooner said than done. As a graduation project, Marco carried out a feasibility study with the aim of setting up a vegetable processing facility. And with success, Snijpunt was born.
From one to twelve production lines
In the first period, Snijpunt only supplied halved bell pepper. Over the past 25 years, many varieties of prepared bell pepper and other products have been added. "From one smoothly working production line, we have grown to 12 production lines. Where we started with 300 square meters of production space, we now operate on more than 4,000 square meters. And from a small team, Snijpunt had grown to a team of 60 to 90 people, depending on the current demand. Still closely united and with an eye for the customer, product, and each other," Managing Director Mark van der Salm tells us.
"We have grown from a specialist in halved bell peppers to a specialist in freshly prepared cut vegetables in recent years. In this process, we continuously explore efficiency, food safety, and innovation. We are also always looking at additions to our range or collaborations that could benefit our customers. And we continue to look for companies that we can provide with knowledge, skills, and suitable products," Van der Salm explains.
"No one knows what the future holds, but setting plans always helps. What our plans are, we will keep to ourselves for now. Over the year, we will take you all into our future. We will keep you posted," Van der Salm concludes.
