As of February 1, Biological Youngplants has expanded its greenhouse area by 17,000 square meters to cope with the company's strong growth and offer new customers an alternative. The company sees plenty of prospects in this complicated market and expects growth of 30-35% this year in both organically grown herbs, lavender, and sweet potato starting material.
Following the introduction in 2020 of their hybrid plug, demand for planting material within Europe has grown strongly, partly due to the excellent in-house developed genetics at the company's disposal. In Germany alone, the acreage will increase by over 100 Ha next year, all based on sound variety comparisons.
Next season, several potential newcomers that have been bred for the North European market and excel in production and storage quality will be tested on a practical scale.
All the plant material produced by Biological Youngplants BV carries a BIO SUISSE certificate in addition to the well-known EU Bio certificate. In addition, the Dutch locations for the upcoming sweet potato season will feature a Naturland certificate, and cuttings are also produced in Germany under the Bioland Certificate.
