Rovero aims to become more visible in western Netherlands after takeover

Holland Tuinbouw Systemen B.V. of Wateringen transferred its horticultural activities and stocks to foil greenhouse builder Rovero Systems B.V. of Raamsdonksveer on 10 January. The permanently employed service technicians are moving with the new owner. "With this acquisition, we are strengthening our field service and expanding our product range and customer service," explains Rovero managing director Jacco van Delden.

The activities acquired by Rovero involve the construction and maintenance of various types of film greenhouses and façade installations, including façade ventilation and façade screens. Rovero is particularly enthusiastic about HTS' Sunroof Convertible greenhouse, which nicely complements the RollAir concept developed by the Raamsdonksveer-based foil greenhouse specialist itself.

Multiple benefits
"RollAir and Sunroof are two variations on a theme that is attracting strong interest," says Van Delden. "There is more demand for convertible greenhouses worldwide, and then it is nice when you can offer two high-quality systems. They have both proven their worth, and it just depends on which the prospective customer prefers. With this offering, we are unique in the world."

The managing director also sees geographical advantages in the acquisition. Rovero has traditionally had a strong position in the southern Netherlands but is less visible in the western Netherlands. "The fact that we can also serve HTS customers from now on makes a difference," notes Van Delden. "It is also a great opportunity to accelerate the creation of our own maintenance service, for which we already had plans ready. Until now, we have always hired external mechanics, but they could not always offer the speed and flexibility our customers expect. With our new, experienced colleagues from the Westland region, we can immediately relieve customers with maintenance contracts better."

New company
The selling party is also happy with the deal. HTS director Berry Zuiderwijk knows that his people and products are in good hands at Rovero. "Of course, it hurts to say goodbye to a company you built up with love, but my priorities are different now than a year ago," he says of the reason for the transfer. "Last year, I set up a new company, which supplies typesetting and metal structures to residential and non-residential construction. I can put more technical creativity into that. It is growing fast, and there is more and more time and energy involved. I think this is the best solution for all concerned, including our current horticultural customers. Rovero has an excellent reputation, and for that reason, I approached them first. The rest is history."

Second acquisition in a row
The acquisition is the second in a short time for Rovero, which acquired QuickZip fruit canopies from Hago Fruitsafe in December 2022. "Both acquisitions fit well into our growth strategy, which focuses on innovation, sustainability, and unburdening customers wherever they are," says Van Delden.
