The Sixth China-ASEAN Agricultural Cooperation Forum has held in Nanning, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on Sept. 15, 2022. Vice Minister Ma Youxiang and Huang Junhua, Vice Chairman of the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, attended the opening ceremony and delivered remarks.
Vice Minister Ma noted that China and ASEAN countries are neighbors and have similar cultures and close people-to-people interactions. Enjoying commonalities and complementarities in agricultural production, China and ASEAN have all along maintained sound cooperation and achieved fruitful results in areas such as agricultural trade and investment and technology exchanges.
This year marks the first year for the implementation of the China-ASEAN comprehensive strategic partnership. China is willing to continue strengthening policy communication with ASEAN countries and push for unimpeded trade and technological advancement. China will work with ASEAN countries on the alignment of the China-ASEAN Action Plan on Green Agricultural Development with the ASEAN Sustainable Agriculture Guidelines, adaptation to climate change, and fight against COVID-19. China will also strive to increase comprehensive food productivity and the resilience of the supply chain, ensure food security and promote green agricultural growth in the region, contributing to a closer China-ASEAN community with a shared future.
As a major side event of the China-ASEAN Expo, the China-ASEAN Agricultural Cooperation Forum was co-hosted by the MARA and the People's Government of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. More than 150 participants attended the Forum either in person or via video link, including agricultural ministers of ASEAN countries and their diplomats to China, representatives of international organizations, agricultural officials, scholars, and business executives.
