"Iran exports 90% of greenhouse output"

More than 90% of Iran’s greenhouse output is exported, according to the head of the National Greenhouse Builders Association.

“Our main export destinations are Qatar, Oman, the UAE, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, Iraq, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, and other member states of the Eurasian Economic Union,” Abdolrahman Hosseinifard was also quoted as saying by Mehr News Agency.

According to the official, there are close to 23,000 hectares of greenhouses in all of the 31 provinces of Iran.

“Until a few years ago, only a handful of products were cultivated in our greenhouses like cucumber, tomato, bell pepper, and some ornamental plants. But now we grow different kinds of vegetables, flowers, trees and plants, fruits, seedlings and saplings, seeds, medicinal plants, and even fodder,” he said.
