US (NE): Arnold School board votes to purchase greenhouse

Arnold School Board members approved the purchase of a 30-foot by 60-foot greenhouse at their regular meeting held on August 9.

The truss-style greenhouse will be built on a new concrete pad with a drain system north of the fenced-in playground. The greenhouse will take about two and a half months to be delivered, giving the school time to get everything set up.

The greenhouse is being purchased through School House Gardens and the science program. The total cost, including the pad and drain system, will be $85,000.00. Superintendent Joel Morgan said the main cost would come out of the special building fund, but the school is confident that it will obtain grants. REAP dollars will also help offset the cost. Some residents have also offered to contribute.

ā€œIā€™m really excited about the educational opportunities this will offer for the students,ā€ said Mr. Morgan.
