Steady supply of Iceberg lettuce at SA Produce market

Volumes of iceberg lettuce are not quite back to normal in South Australia, but supplies are steady through the wholesale markets.

"It will be around another four weeks before we return to fully normal supply levels," according to Penny Reidy, Marketing Manager at SA Produce Market.

"The quality looks fantastic – growers are very happy with the quality of iceberg lettuce they are picking at the moment. Demand is steady, and consumers are responding to the good quality and price of iceberg and starting to include it in their shopping again."

South Australia produces iceberg lettuce all year round.

"The wholesale pricing has stabilized. A number of fruit and veg retailers in SA have had specials on iceberg lettuce to get customers to reintroduce the line into their weekly shop."
