Mexican avocado crossings through Texas are expected to increase slightly

The movement of Peruvian asparagus through South Florida ports of entry is expected to remain about the same. Trading on light supplies of jumbo moderate, others very slow for heavy supplies. Prices jumbo slightly higher, standard lower, small generally unchanged and others slightly lower. Supplies of white are in too few hands to establish a market. Production is expected to complete shift to northern Peru by mid-June.

Some sales are still going to consignment or allowing for price adjustments as the market remains very slow, but shippers hope for improved bookings by the end of the week, with the July 4 retail pull expected to begin the week of June 19. Much jumbo, extra-large and large product has been shipped to European markets, where prices are higher. The movement of Mexican asparagus crossing through Arizona, California, and Texas is expected to remain about the same.

Trading was slow at lower prices again this week, but demand is picking up slightly as some local deals start to finish, and prices were trending upwards by the end of the week. Supplies jumbo light and many large sizes being sent to export market. Most shipments continue to be booked at previously committed prices, with prices reported representing very few spot market sales. The movement of asparagus from Michigan is expected to remain about the same. Trading fairly active, with prices generally unchanged.

The Avocado movement from Southern California is expected to remain about the same. Trading was moderate, with prices on 78s and 84s higher, the 40s lower, and others generally unchanged.
