Maxville’s Canobi Agtech helps communities around the world improve food security and sustainability

In a small white building east of Maxville, a local startup company is helping communities around the world to improve their food security through indoor farming.

“Food security is about having access to a diverse set of products at a reasonable price that people can afford,” says Canobi Agtech owner Robin Vincent, noting consumers have already seen the impact of rising prices and less variety. “That is what we’re trying to solve with indoor farming.”

Canobi Agtech uses its own Agriculture Resource Planning™ (AGRP ) process – a platform that integrates advanced monitoring and automation technology with powerful business planning tools – to provide streamlined operations for indoor farmers. Canobi’s innovative technology can help indoor farms reduce their resource usage and grow food more sustainably.

Using his background in Information Technology (IT), Vincent first used his resource planning methodologies in the aquarium world – creating stable environments for saltwater fish to reduce mortality rates. “The fish come out of the ocean, they go into a fish tank somewhere, then another fish tank, and then to somebody’s home,” he says. “That home environment is very different than the ocean.”
