The city of Almeria will become, on Saturday 19th of March, the World’s Tomato Capital with a massive event. Like every year the value of tomato is highlighted as the fruits and vegetables’ jewel in the crown of this Southern Spanish province. Almeria currently exports more than one trillion kilograms of tomatoes’ different varieties to the world every year. It is the most demanded product of the province by far. As consequence, this day has an international character.

The event is organised by several regional fruits and vegetables firms and sponsored by local and national press (such as La Voz de Almeria and Cadena SER), local administration (Ayuntamiento de Almeria), provincial administration (Diputacion de Almeria), regional administration (Junta de Andalucia) and the financial group Cajamar.
This will be the 8th edition of the event that serves to showcase the most famous product of this part of Andalusia to the world. Locals, certainly, live it with pride. Thousands of people are expected to come and enjoy a day full of fun.
Schedule: Tomato Day starts at 10.30 am and ends at 2.30 pm.
